PARUL INSITUTE OF MANAGEMENT (PGDM PROGRAMME)
TEACHING METHODOLOGY :
‘Parul’ believes in providing a flexible and judicious mix of different teaching methodologies. It comprises case studies, lectures, class room discussion, seminars and conferences, projects/survey work, quizzes, tutorial sessions, analytical study of research tools, presentation, event management, role playing, study tour, visiting business houses, etc.
Each course puts forth a variety of challenges and demands, through which students ‘hone’ their concepts and skills for the development of creativity and innovations.
Special lectures by leading success strategists, power motivators, communication experts, self management advisors, academicians and executives from business / industry are arranged to enable the students to become successful entrepreneurs / executives.
First top 10 rank holder students ( based on the first semester result ) will be sent to international academic / industrial study tour for about 10 days in order to provide them an opportunity for global orientation. This will lead to a healthy competition among the management students to work hard from the beginning itself to grab this opportunity.

For success in corporate world, it is essential to have very dynamic and positive personality traits. The students are exposed to rigorous personality development modules to make them smart managers of the future. This includes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities like:

Parul Trust has purchased software, worth Rs. 3 lacks from Globarena Technologies (P) Ltd; aiming to provide training to students in the field of Language Development, Aptitude Building and Career Awareness for all the constituent institutes of the campus. MBA students have been given the emphasis by taking them through a composite training period of 36 hours per students per semester.

ACADEMIA – INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP
1. INDUSTRIAL VISIT
The students are regularly taken for various industrial visits which enable them to be up to date with the latest developments in the corporate world. The second batch during the orientation program had an opportunity for industrial visit to Conmat Industries Ltd. which deals with large scale manufacturing of earth moving equipment near Vadodara. A second industrial visit was conducted to Transpek Industries Ltd. which is export oriented chemical plant located near Vadodara. Visits to Jewel Consumer Care Pvt. Ltd. and Madhav Agro Foods Pvt. Ltd. Vadodara, supplier of quality products to world class MNCs have been organized for the second year PGDM students.
2. INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOURS
Students had an opportunity to visit Malaysia & Singapore from April 19 – 26, 2008 as part of international industrial exposure. In Malaysia, students could visit Palm Oil, Rubber & Chocolate plants and office of the Chamber of commerce & Industry and Graduate School of Business (Universiti Kebangsaan) at Kuala Lumpur. Visits were made at important manufacturing units such as Newater & Asian Breweries plants at Singapore. Interactions of students at Management Development Institute of Singapore, highly mechanized & automated Sea Port and Singapore Indian chamber of Commerce & Industry were memorable events.
3. GUEST LECTURE/CEO LECTURE SERIES
Guest Lectures were organized on a regular basis to impart practical knowledge from the stalwarts of industry to the students. Also, a specially designed CEO Lecture Series is conducted in which the practicing CEOs of the corporate come during the weekends and deliver lectures to the students & faculty.

4. MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES
Membership of professional bodies such as Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI), Vadodara Chambers of Commerce and Industries (VCCI), Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Baroda Management Association (BMA) help us fetch good corporate reach in form of final and summer placements, guest lectures, industrial visits and various other interactions.
5. TRAINING AND PLACEMENT TEAM
A team has been constituted representing Mr. Akshay Palvankar and Mr. Siddhant Sancheti, under the chairmanship of Prof. N. K. Kapoor to initiate ground work in order to establish Industry – Academic Interaction. The team is very active in arrangement of industrial visits / CEO Lecture Forum / Guest Lectures on a regular interval since the inception of the PGDM Programme. The summer placement for the batch 2009-11 had been successfully conducted in various organizations of repute. Some of the students have even been asked to contact for placement by these organizations after completion of PGDM Programme.
EVALUATION SYSTEM :
The institute follows continuous evaluation system under which each student’s performance is evaluated over the entire semester for every course. Various components of the evaluation system may include mid-semester and end-semester examinations, class participation, assignments, quizzes, course projects, business news analysis, writing of research paper & presentation, and so on.
Grading System
For each component of a course, the concerned instructor will give a letter grade. Grades are awarded as below:
A - Excellent
B - Good
C - Satisfactory
D - Low pass
F - Fail
A ‘plus’ (+) or ‘minus’(-) is attached to a grade to indicate the degree of performance given in the above broad classification.
